We learned this week that the superb Women’s Super League is going to double in size next year – fantastic news as far as we’re concerned!

You may know we worked with brilliant team Western Storm, catering for their training days at Exeter University in Exeter and the university’s Topsham sports ground over the summer.

Jacqui was kept busy cooking  curries, tacos, chilli con carne and lasagnes, designed to meet nutritional needs and keep the team in tip-top condition for training.

The catering contract came about after an approach by Trevor Griffin who coaches the team. (Trevor owns the Cricket Shop at Cotleigh and is a regular visitor to the Volunteer in Ottery). Trevor said later that what made a big difference was keeping the team together at lunchtimes, building camaraderie and team spirit – as well as fresh, nutritional food, of course!

Everyone at the Volunteer was over the moon to hear the team had won and, as a thank you, Western Storm presented the Volunteer with a shirt worn by match centurion, Rachel Priest.

Trevor recently brought the cup in to dazzle the punters!

We hope to be involved again, so watch this space for news.
